Good Friday // A Message from Pastor Troy Agema - April 18, 2025
On this solemn day, we remember the weight of the cross — the suffering, the sacrifice, and the love that held Jesus there. Good Friday is not the end of the story, but the doorway through which resurrection hope enters our lives.
I’m reminded of a pivotal moment in my own journey — leaving behind youth ministry, community, and familiarity to begin my Master of Divinity at Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, CA. My first class: a Greek intensive — 16 units in 10 weeks. It was overwhelming, to say the least.
But each morning, our professor, Father Samuel J. Gantt III, would ground us with one phrase:
“Christos Anesti.”
And we would respond in unison:
“Alithos Anesti.”
"Christ is Risen!"
"He is Truly Risen!"
Though Good Friday calls us to remember Christ's death, we do so in light of what we know is coming — resurrection. This ancient Easter greeting became more than just a class tradition; it became a way of living. A daily reminder that death does not have the final word.
So today, as we sit in the stillness and sorrow of the cross, let us not forget what’s on the horizon.
Let every moment — even the heavy ones — be lived with the knowledge that Sunday is coming.
Christ has died.
Christ is risen.
Christ will come again.
Live the reality of His love, today and every day.
